S/S 18 NYFW Recap

The best time of the year has arrived: New York Fashion Week. I must admit that when I moved to New York, I was particularly excited to be living in the city while NYFW was occurring. Designers, influencers, and celebrities are flooding the downtown streets wearing the latest trends that inspire us all. Photographers are posted up on street corners hoping to catch a unique street-style look; the energy is exciting!

This year I was able to take one day off of work to attend a day of shows and experience the scene at Skylight Clarkson Square (where many shows are held). I was reminded of my passion for this industry and couldn't wait to review all the runway shows on Vogue!

To start - here are a few of my favorite Collections this year.

The S/S 18 Coach collection was probably my favorite runway collection thus far. The combination of playful design edgy detail and delicate fabrics creates an overall amazing ready-to-wear collection. If you're looking for some layering inspiration, make sure to browse through the entire slide show on Vogue.

Zimmerman has always been a favorite of mine since i'm such a girly-girl. I love the lace details and retro style dresses that I can expect to see each year. This year there was a modern flare to the cut of the garments and I was especially loving the all-white looks.

Another collection I am guaranteed to love every season is Jill Stuart. I know I can count on her collection to inspire work outfits that are equally playful and sophisticated. Her layered looks and classic polka dot fabrics inspired me to keep my summer dresses around for fall to layer over a blouse or with tall boots.

For my one day of NYFW I wore two different looks - one for the morning shows and one for the evening show.

Since it was a Sunday morning, I didn't go all out crazy in the morning. I wore my favorite crop denim, a wrap blouse and white kitten heels. The heels are the statement in this look because of the bright white color and sophisticated pointed toe style. The shoes were able to dress up this look! Similarly, white pointed toe booties are a great way to dress up a casual fall look.

Top: Zara

Denim: Aritzia

Heels: Free People

Bag: Missy Empire

For the evening I was headed to Jarel Zhang wearing this red statement dress. Red is a hot color this season, so never feel too bold wearing this warm color. I wore this dress with gold heels, gold earrings and a leather jacket.

Dress: Aritzia

Earrings: Madewell

Heels: H&M

Jacket: ASOS

Stay tuned for future posts on sweater trends and how-to-style trends for fall!

xoxo, M
